Tips for your networking success 

There is always an event around the corner with the potential to spark new collaborations, secure funding or connect with like-minded people.  

With years of experience in organizing events, trade fairs and delegation tours, we have gathered exclusive networking tips for you.  

How to network 

Before the event:  

✅ Define your goals: 

  • Do you want to gain new customers?  
  • Win partners for collaboration?  
  • Attract investors?  
  • Or simply (re-)connect and strengthen existing relationships? 

✅ Look up the program, speakers and key participants. If available, use the event app and deep-dive into company pages and LinkedIn Profiles. 

✅ Keep your LinkedIn profile up to date and let your network know that you are attending. 

✅ Schedule a handful of meetings in advance. Prioritize quality over quantity so you have time for meaningful talks and spontaneous encounters. 

During the event: 

✅ Have your business card or LinkedIn QR Code ready. 

✅ Listen to panels so you can bring up key points in conversations with speakers or other attendees. 

✅ Be present. Avoid spending too much time on your phone or laptop (it can make you seem unavailable). Delegate responsibilities in advance and clear your schedule so you can fully focus on the event and the people there.

After the event: 

✅ Follow up quickly with key leads – we recommend personalized LinkedIn messages or emails. Reference your conversation and suggest next steps. 

✅ Don’t be discouraged by slow replies. Stay on the radar by keeping in touch and showing consistent interest. 

Additional tips:  

✅ Divide and conquer: Bring a colleague to cover more ground and compare notes afterward. 

✅ Approach people in pairs: It gives a stronger sense of your team and can boost your confidence in conversations.
