Mapping the World for Green Mass Hydrogen Production

Success Story Othersphere x Eternal Power

H2UB connects key players in the hydrogen industry. Often through our programs, where corporate partners mentor our start-ups. These interactions spark long-term partnerships, not only between start-ups and experts but sometimes among the start-ups themselves. This is their story.

Matt, Robert, thanks for joining us! How did your collaboration begin?

Matt Hammond: I met Moritz, Eternal Power’s CEO, at an event in 2022. A year later, I reached back out to Moritz, and he connected me with Robert, who then brought in his team. That’s how it all started.

Robert Meitz: Right, Moritz forwarded your email and I immediately saw potential. After a bit of research and a team review, we set up our first call. Interestingly, this all happened before we joined the H2UB SPRINT program. Being selected for the same batch was a great coincidence and it really deepened the partnership.

What challenges or opportunities led to the decision to partner?

Robert: We share a common goal: accelerating hydrogen deployment despite significant challenges. Initially, we focused on Germany and Sweden, but scaling globally requires country‑specific strategies. Othersphere’s data and analytics save time and provide the insights we need to tailor our approach in each market.

Matt: Our ‘Othersphere Explorer’ was built to tackle the complexity of infrastructure development. We  bring together a wide range of critical data, using AI to model and optimize billions of potential projects across the globe, making all of this searchable. This helps infrastructure developers find and start developing sites much quicker than has historically been possible. Partnering with Eternal Power to help them with their international expansion was therefore a natural fit.

What do you learn from each other?

Matt: Eternal Power highlights the most relevant features and challenges, helping us prioritize new features, refine existing ones and brainstorm ideas to improve our platform. That collaboration has been incredibly valuable.

How did H2UB help spark the collaboration?

Matt: With the SPRINT and the HYDROVERSE CONVENTION, H2UB gave us the platform to connect. Meeting in person makes a big difference. Video calls and emails help, but they can never fully replace face-to-face interaction.

Robert: Absolutely. Trust is key in any partnership and that kind of connection is hard to build through MS Teams meetings alone.

Were there any significant milestones from the collaboration?

Robert: While we can’t share specifics yet, our pipeline is full of promising leads from Othersphere’s tool. Our focus isn’t just on a few showcase projects, but on building a scalable, high-quality pipeline. To do that, we need top-tier leads and that’s exactly what Othersphere delivers. We’re actively evaluating them alongside our core projects.

Matt: Having Eternal Power as one of our first customers was a key milestone. You can develop a product in isolation, but real progress comes from engaging with customers, with the market and learning from every interaction.

What are the key lessons learned from the collaboration so far?

Robert: First, green hydrogen development varies hugely by country: small differences in grid access, resource availability and local regulations demand entirely different strategies. Second, high-quality, consistent data is surprisingly hard to find but essential for making informed decisions. And third, real progress only happens through strong collaboration.

Matt: To build the market and the right products, we need to work with all kinds of companies, especially startups. They bring entrepreneurial energy, disruptive ideas and invaluable feedback others might overlook.

What advice would you give to others considering a similar partnership?

Matt: Diverse perspectives are essential. If we only worked with one type of company, we’d miss out on the insights needed to build the best product and drive market growth. Collaborating with startups like Eternal Power helps us deliver real value while learning what truly matters in the market. That kind of feedback loop is priceless.

Robert: We’re all driven by the common goal to reach Net Zero. The best way to master this global challenge is open, transparent collaboration. We need to pull in the same direction to move the entire market forward. Don’t fear sharing knowledge, if you move fast and do great work, you’ll succeed.
